Trump reverses 18 more Biden-era executive orders and directives
On Friday, President Donald Trump rolled back another 19 of President Joe Biden's executive orders and actions, a White House official told The Hill.
The actions focused on gender ideology as well as labor and industry regulations.
The White House said the rollback was intended to “reverse damaging policies and restore effective government.”
The newest batch of reversals brings the total number of Biden-era actions and orders rolled back to almost 100 in the first two months. Trump intends to reshape government so it is more in line with values expressed by his voters and in many cases, a majority of the electorate.
What was rolled back
The rescinded orders included the following:
--An order that “elevated radical gender ideology in U.S. diplomacy and foreign aid.”
--A mandate for more electric heat pumps and solar panels in manufacturing.
--Prioritizing a pathway for workers to join a union.
--An order that raised the minimum wage for federal contractors to $15 an hour.
--An order that Trump said invested taxpayer money into "radical biotech and biomanufacturing initiatives under the guise of environmental policy.”
The general idea
Some of the guiding principles in reversing these policies are to stop or avoid mandating certain industries over others and to let the free market dictate what products and processes the people want to see.
The government should not be picking winners and losers between types of energy, for example.
The government should also avoid forcing people to provide certain types of health care that go against their beliefs, like transgender health care for minors and abortions.
Under Trump, the government may actually get a lot closer to what the Founding Fathers intended--not a nanny state, but one where people are free to follow their consciences and make their own way.
