Trump team blasts Biden's oil ban
President-Elect Donald Trump and his team are blasting President Joe Biden for his recent decision to ban oil and gas drilling in some federal waters.
Incoming Trump Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, according to the Daily Wire, has released a statement on the matter.
Leavitt, in the statement, referred to the decision as "disgraceful."
She also accused the administration of trying to "exact political revenge" on Trump.
Biden's latest ban
Biden, in the last weeks of his administration, has been making a number of moves trying to slow Trump's incoming administration down. One of these moves is a ban that Biden has placed on certain oil and gas drilling.
The ban was reported by Bloomberg.
Per the outlet:
President Joe Biden is preparing to issue a decree permanently banning new offshore oil and gas development in some US coastal waters, locking in difficult-to-revoke protections during his final weeks in the White House.
"Difficult-to-revoke" is the operative word there. Biden is essentially trying to undermine Trump before Trump can even get going.
Breitbart News explains the situation, writing:
According to insiders familiar with the scheme, this move is designed to entrench the policy so deeply that the incoming Trump administration—or any pro-energy Republican administration—would face serious hurdles in rolling it back.
Team Trump responds: "disgraceful"
Leavitt has now responded to the Biden oil ban with a statement in which she called the decision "disgraceful."
The incoming White House press secretary said:
Joe Biden clearly wants high gas prices to be his legacy. This is a disgraceful decision designed to exact political revenge on the American people who gave President Trump a mandate to increase drilling and lower gas prices. Rest assured, Joe Biden will fail, and we will drill, baby, drill.
Leavitt, here, of course, was using what has become one of Trump's catchphrases, namely, "drill, baby, drill." Trump has, on numerous occasions, said that he plans to "open things up" almost immediately upon taking office. He believes that drilling is one of the keys to Americans success.
The Daily Wire notes, "Trump has promised to increase American energy production and make it easier for oil and gas companies to drill in U.S. waters and on American land."
As we move forward, the big question will be how much trouble the incoming Trump administration has in undoing these and other moves by Biden - moves designed to slow Trump down. Time will tell.
