Tulsi Gabbard is helping to prepare Trump for debate

Tulsi Gabbard is now helping former President Donald Trump to prepare for his upcoming debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.

It is quite the reversal for Gabbard, who went from being a Democratic congresswoman to now helping Trump to defeat Harris.

The news that Trump has teamed up with Gabbard was reported by Fox News over the weekend.

This has to have Harris a bit worried. Read on to see why.

Flashback

One of the things that Gabbard is most well known for is her debate performance against Harris.

It took place during the 2020 Democratic primaries when both Harris and Gabbard were vying for the party's presidential nomination. It, of course, was Biden who won. Harris, in fact, was forced to drop out early after struggling to receive even one percentage point of support.

Fox reports:

The former congresswoman [Gabbard] memorably scorched Harris in a 2019 primary debate where she hammered Harris for jailing hundreds of Californians for marijuana violations while she was attorney general, yet bragged about her own use of the drug.

The outlet then quotes Gabbard as saying, during the debate, "She [Harris] put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and then laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana."

Now, it appears that Gabbard is looking to help Trump have similar success against Harris. Trump's campaign has put out a statement, saying:

President Trump has proven to be one of the best debaters in political history as evidenced by his knockout blow to Joe Biden. He does not need traditional debate prep but will continue to meet with respected policy advisors and effective communicators like Tulsi Gabbard, who successfully dominated Kamala Harris on the debate stage in 2020.

Harris's "prep"

According to CNN, Harris has also enlisted at least one individual to help her to prepare to go up against Trump.

Per the outlet:

Harris held her first formal debate training session earlier this week at Howard University, the historically Black college in Washington, D.C., she attended nearly four decades ago, and she is working closely with a seasoned Trump stand-in.

The so-called impersonator is Philippe Reines.

CNN writes:

A team of Democratic advisers joined Harris at Howard earlier this week, including Philippe Reines, a longtime aide to Hillary Clinton, who is reprising his role playing Trump at the request of the Harris campaign, several people familiar with the planning told CNN.

We'll learn soon enough whose debate preparation is more effective, as the debate is scheduled to take place in early September.
