'Wheel of Fortune's' Vanna White makes shock admission about her work life

Vanna White, the popular co-host of Wheel of Fortune, just made an admission about her work schedule that has caught many of the show's fans by surprise.

The admission, according to Fox News, came during a recent appearance on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.

There, the 68-year-old star revealed that she only works on Wheel of Fortune for 34 days out of every year.

This is surprising because many long-time viewers assumed that, since the show is broadcast every night, it is produced every day. But, this, according to White, is not how things actually work.

A behind-the-scenes look

White was prompted to make the admission by radio co-host Nate Marino. The New York Post reports that "Marino mentioned that he only recently learned that the show didn’t air live every night."

This is when White revealed, "We film about 34 days a year. That's it."

White continued by joking, "Come on. You could feel bad for me," to which Duran jokingly replied, "I do not feel sorry for you one bit. That sounds like a great job."

White went on to reveal that since there are six fillings per day, she has to change into six different dresses, one for each recording.

So, how much does she make?

This, of course, is the question that everyone wants to know, now that it has been revealed that White only works 34 days out of every 365 day year. This is not, of course, to say that White does not do things other than Wheel of Fortune.

The Post reports:

White’s filming schedule may be small — but her bank account is still stacked. The television personality earned around $3 million yearly to reveal letters on the puzzle board until she renegotiated her contract in 2023 . . . During negotiations, White scored a “substantial pay increase” when she signed on to co-host the show for at least two more years.

White has been doing the show now for 42 years. For most of those years, White co-hosted the show alongside Pat Sajack. Sajack, however, has left the show, after announcing his retirement in June 2023.

There was some speculation about, following the retirement announcement, White, perhaps, hosting the show, but it did not come to pass.

Instead, Sajak's position has been filled by Ryan Seacrest, so that, instead of White and Sajack, it is now White and Seacrest.
