Regardless of how you feel about gay rights, the LGBT community, or the overall culture war going on in America right now, one thing is for sure...

Innocent people shouldn't be killed.

It looks like that's exactly what happened to a bullied queer teenager in Oklahoma.

On February 23, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, a lesbian, addressed the media about the senseless death of Nex Benedict, a nonbinary teenager who attended Owasso High School in Oklahoma.

The White House is reporting that Nex Benedict died after being bullied.

Being a parent and a member of the LGBT community herself meant that Karine Jean-Pierre was certainly upset by Nex's death.

"As a parent, I was absolutely heartbroken to learn about Nex Benedict’s death," she said.

"Our hearts are with Nex Benedict’s family, friends, entire school community. In the wake of this horrific and gut-wrenching tragedy, I know that for many LGBTQ+ students across the country, this may feel personal and deeply, deeply painful."

While you may not agree with the LGBT lifestyle, there's at least one thing Karine said that NOBODY in America should be disputing, regardless of political affiliation:

"Every young person deserves to feel safe and supported at school."

While the autopsy hasn't been completed yet to confirm that the injuries sustained in the fight were what led to Nex Benedict's death, that's the assumption a lot of people are making.

Now, a heartbreaking video is going viral in which Nex Benedict explains from a hospital bed what happened. The video was recorded on an officer's bodycam.

Details about the fight revealing that Nex Benedict was the one who started the fight by throwing water on a group of bullies, but Nex didn't deserve to be killed for doing what he thought was standing up for himself.

Vice President Kamala Harris commented on the incident:

"My heart goes out to Nex Benedict’s family, friends, and their entire community," she said. "To the LGBTQI+ youth who are hurting and are afraid right now: President Joe Biden and I see you, we stand with you, and you are not alone."

Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone involved.

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
