Actress Ruby Rose is recovering in a hospital after slipping on the edge of her pool, slamming into a wall, and falling backward into the water, an accident she shared with the world by posting home surveillance footage to social media.

Rose, the model and former star of CW's "Batwoman" and "Orange is the New Black," posted the clip to her Instagram Stories early Tuesday, June 30, along with a caption that left little room for ambiguity about the damage.

"RIP to my ribs, and to the rest of my summer. They are broken, multiple," Rose wrote. "Straight to hospital, did not pass go or collect 200 dollars."

What the surveillance video shows

The footage, which Rose set to "There She Goes" by The La's, shows her walking along the edge of her pool while holding a garden hose. She loses her footing, strikes a wall and the pool's edge, and tumbles backward into the water.

Rose's Threads posts filled in a few more details, along with her trademark gallows humor. In one post, she wrote:

"One second I'm here talking to you. The next I'm in the hopital [sic] with two broken ribs. What a bloody Monday."

The reference to Monday suggests the accident occurred on June 29. By the following morning, Rose was already documenting the aftermath for her followers.

A second Threads post painted a grimmer picture of the immediate aftermath. Rose described not being able to feel her legs or hands. She also acknowledged the long road ahead.

"I've just broken two ribs, falling into my own pool backwards, 🤣 and you couldn't pay me to put a bra on, let alone stand up. Send good book and show recommendations this is going to take many weeks."

USA Today reached out to Rose's representative for comment but reported receiving no response.

How many ribs? Rose's own accounts don't quite match

One small wrinkle worth noting: Rose's Instagram caption described the broken ribs as "multiple," while both of her Threads posts specified "two broken ribs." Whether "multiple" was shorthand for two or hinted at a higher count is unclear. No hospital or medical professional has publicly confirmed the diagnosis. Every detail about the injury comes from Rose herself.

Accidents at home can turn serious in a heartbeat. In recent months, other public figures have faced sudden medical emergencies, actor Ving Rhames was rushed to a hospital after collapsing at a Los Angeles restaurant before being released.

Rose's fall, caught cleanly on her own security camera, is a reminder that a mundane chore, hosing down a pool deck, can go wrong fast.

Rose's history of injuries and Hollywood disputes

This is not the first time Rose has dealt with a painful physical setback. The actress has previously alleged that she suffered an on-set injury while filming "Batwoman" and was forced to return to work just 10 days after undergoing surgery.
