DANIEL VAUGHAN: To The American Church: Wake Up
This is an open letter, of sorts, to the American church. I hope you've been paying attention to at least recent events, but I know you haven't. Had you paid attention, you'd come to one realization: whether or not you're interested in the political and secular order, it is interested in you.
By "interested," I don't mean that it wants to learn more about what you believe, join your community, or perhaps listen to a sermon or two. No, the secular and pagan are barging into your doors, quite literally, demanding you come into agreement with them.
Or else.
This is a literal thing. In Minnesota, alleged "anti-ICE" protestors stormed a church, ending a service, and sent people running for the doors. The Department of Justice has, naturally, looked at this as a FACE Act violation, where a radical group is intending to intimidate, threaten, and block access to a church.
Why?
This church was accused of having a pastor working with the local ICE office. We need to emphasize that the allegations here are unnecessary to dig into. The activists burst into the building, ended a service, and blasted everyone there, not a specific pastor, as being evil. Everyone was branded racist, bigoted, and evil by lunatics.
Afterwards, one of them dared the Department of Justice to come after him. And, of course, former CNN host Don Lemon got in on the action, rushing up to everyone trying to get a scoop, while pretending he wasn't part of the problem (he's facing the prospect of charges, too).
American church: You cannot hide in your services; you must now answer for whatever is happening in the public sphere.
You can't hide in your schools, either. Audrey Hale, the trans-shooter in Nashville, listed the Christian school as a reason to kill people there. It didn't matter if you were an adult or a child; they all died regardless because of a connection to a Christian school.
You can't expect to flee to other countries. Canada, Australia, and Europe all crack down on Biblical speech, especially that which doesn't align with secular beliefs. You will have police knocking on your door if you even post scripture in Europe.
Russia, China, and the Middle East offer various forms of incarceration for anyone not heading in the same direction as the state. Africa is giving the world a steady stream of Christians being kidnapped and killed from their homes, churches, and in broad daylight.
Back in America, Charlie Kirk was shot and killed for both his Christian and conservative beliefs. A moment that is etched inside the minds of those on the political right, for sure. Conservatives in America connect the assassinations to the multiple attempts on Trump's life, the Supreme Court Justices, and the Congressional baseball field.
There is no hiding. You can try to stay peaceful and remain "out of the public eye," but increasingly, that same public eye will come for you. No one in that Minnesota church asked to be at the top of the national conversation. Yet, here they are.
And here are you, church.
A Bishop in New Hampshire gave a somewhat ironic speech. He claimed, at a vigil for Renee Good, the woman shot by an ICE Agent after she hit him with a car, that a new era of martydom had arrived. He's partially correct: that moment has arrived, but he and his ilk are not the target: it's everyone else.
His speech is true, but not for himself. He did not speak at a memorial for Christians; he was validating the mob.
Radical protestors won't storm that Bishop's church. No, those types will target churches they believe, no evidence needed, are on the "wrong side of history." A similar phenomenon is happening with Mormons, and Jews know this feeling all too well, with synagogues being burned and Jews being murdered in the streets of the nation's capital.
American church - you are the last stand. You're it. Europe isn't coming to help. Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa... they cannot stand against the global tide without you. And you can't hide anymore.
The world has come to you and demanded obedience. I know this because I'm in politics. I'm conservative, and I've internalized this from both the perspectives of politics and religious beliefs. This is where we are now, and until the fever breaks, there's no turning this ship around.
How many attacks will it take for you to wake up? Because the alarm bell has been ringing for a long time. The enemy is through the gate. You can either live on your feet, fighting to the end, or meet a darker fate while asleep.
Either way, the world is pounding on your door. It's not friendly and gentle like Jesus, asking you to let Him in. The world is not asking for permission: it's coming by force.
Wake up.
