Noem rides with falsely accused Border Patrol agents in show of support
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem rode horseback Tuesday with Border Patrol agents falsely accused of whipping migrants on the border in a show of support for them, Fox News reported.
"Some of the agents we rode with today were the ones that were falsely accused of whipping those Haitian migrants," she told co-host Lawrence Jones.
She was dressed in Border Patrol gear and a cowboy hat in a look the press has dubbed "ICE Barbie."
"So, to ride with them today and have them know that their leadership has their back, I think is critically important," she continued. "The last leadership team at DHS and Mayorkas, he rode over them. I think it's important today that they know I ride with them."
No apologies
The agents' accuser, former DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, never apologized for the false accusations when video footage showed that the agents were not using their cords on migrants, but to control their horses.
Former President Joe Biden joined in on the bashing, saying the agents' behavior was "outrageous" and promising consequences.
Biden never apologized for his comments either.
On the other hand, Noem emphasized that Border Patrol agents now have "full authority" to stop illegal immigrants at the border.
They are "fully deputized," she said.
"Need more assets"
Noem has gone along on several ICE raids to round up illegal immigrants who have committed crimes in the U.S. since she was confirmed as President Donald Trump's DHS secretary.
She blamed underfunding and a lack of understanding on the part of the Biden administration for some of the struggles Border Patrol has faced and said that Trump plans to rectify these problems.
"The hundreds of billions of dollars this country spends, and we're not giving our law enforcement the tools they need to be successful. These guys need more assets for their horse patrol program. They'd like to be able to train their agents to be more nimble," she said.
In addition, Canadian Border Patrol agents need snow tires for their vehicles, she noted.
The main difference between the Trump and Biden administrations is that Trump actually wants to solve the illegal immigration problem and ensure the country is safe from criminal illegal immigrants and terrorists that may cross the border, while Biden was perfectly happy to see millions of illegal immigrants, including repeat and violent criminals, come into the country.
The problem is solvable if the government has the will to do so--and now it does.
