Biden: Judicial appoints will be "one of the scariest parts" of a Trump victory

President Joe Biden appeared at a lavish fundraiser in Los Angeles this past weekend alongside such celebrities as George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Barbra Streisand.

As the Washington Examiner reporter, Biden used the event as an opportunity to warn that former President Donald Trump will have a chance to make Supreme Court appointments.

Biden: Judicial appointments "one of the scariest parts" of a Trump victory

"The next president is likely to have two new Supreme Court nominees. Two more," the president declared before pointing out that Trump has "already appointed two that have been very negative in terms of rights of individuals."

"The idea that if [Trump] is reelected, he can appoint two more, flying flags upside down," Biden continued, adding that judicial appointment would represent "one of the scariest parts" of a new Trump administration.

Biden's flag comments were in reference to a New York Times article which reported that an upside-down flag was flown outside Justice Samuel Alito's home in 2021, something the justice later said was put up by his wife.

Another Times article revealed that a flag associated with the American Revolution was also flown outside Alito's summer home in New Jersey.

Trump shifted balance of the Supreme Court

During his first term, Trump nominated Justices Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett to America's highest judicial body, with all of them being confirmed.

While Gorsuch replaced conservative Justice Antonin Scalia, Kavanaugh and Barrett shifted the Supreme Court's ideological balance by filling seats previously held by liberal Justices Anthony Kennedy and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

That has led to a number of significant decisions, including Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which found that there is no constitutionally protected right to abortion.

Meanwhile, the justices significantly expanded gun rights by ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen that Americans have a right to carry a firearm outside of their home.

In contrast, Biden has only made one appointment to the Supreme Court, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, who replaced fellow liberal Justice Stephen Breyer.

Obama had to lead Biden off stage

Biden's remarks weren't the only thing to draw attention at the fundraiser, as according to the New York Post, Biden appeared to "freeze up" as the event ended.

In video footage which went viral on social media, Biden could be seen staring off blankly into the audience for roughly 10 seconds before former President Barack Obama took the current president's hand and led him off stage.
