Donald Trump called for "weak and pathetic" Paul Ryan to be removed from Fox Corporation's board of directors after the former House Speaker labeled Trump "unfit" to be president.

Trump urged Fox's chair Rupert Murdoch and his son, CEO Lachlan, to "get that dog" off the board.

Paul Ryan continues feud

Ryan was the running mate for Mitt Romney's failed presidential campaign in 2012. Later, Ryan was elected Speaker of the House and served in that role during the first half of Trump's presidency, when Republicans had control of both chambers of Congress.

During his Speakership, Ryan opposed Trump's hardline immigration agenda, including his plans to deport millions of illegal immigrants. Ryan left Congress after the 2018 midterms and joined the board of directors of the Fox Corporation, which owns Fox News.

He has made no secret of his dislike for Trump, calling him unfit for office and a drag on the GOP in a recent interview with Fox News' Neil Cavuto. Ryan said he would write in a candidate, rather than vote for Biden.

“If you put yourself above the Constitution, as he has done, I think that makes you unfit for office,” he said of Trump.

"Failed and pathetic"

In response to Ryan's latest criticism, Trump called Ryan "disloyal" and a "total lightweight," as well as a "failed and pathetic" Speaker of the House.

“Nobody can ever trust Fox News, and I am one of them, with the weak and ineffective RINO, Paul Ryan, on its Board of Directors,” Trump wrote.

“He’s a total lightweight, a failed and pathetic Speaker of the House, and a very disloyal person. Romney was bad, but Paul Ryan made him look worse. As a team, they never had a chance."

"Rupert and Lachlan, get that dog off your Board – You don’t need him. ALL YOU NEED IS TRUMP. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

During their interview, Cavuto asked Ryan to respond to accusations that he's driving an anti-Trump agenda at the network. Cavuto also noted that many Fox viewers personally dislike both Ryan and Cavuto.

"They say that … we’re kindred spirits. And obviously Donald Trump is saying that you should be fired by Rupert Murdoch. When you hear all of that, what do you say?”

"I’ve been in politics a long time. I have really thick skin," Ryan replied.
