Trump reverses course on mail-in ballots, encourages GOP voters to use them in new initiative

Former President Donald Trump and his 2024 campaign are digging in and they recently revealed a new strategy that many have been pushing for since the last election.

According to the Daily Mail, the Trump campaign revealed its new "Swamp the Vote USA" strategy on its website, explaining that Republican voters should vote in the 2024 election by any means necessary, including mail-in ballots.

Democrats scored massive victories, including the White House, in the 2020 election largely in part of their efforts in utilizing mail-in ballots, ballot harvesting and similar other methods.

Trump embracing mail-in ballots is a massive reversal in his stance on the issue, as he previously voiced criticism of the option in the past.

What's going on?

Trump's campaign made the message clear on its website, writing, "Many Republicans like to vote on Election Day and we must swamp the radical Democrats with massive turnout on Tuesday, November 5."

In a video, Trump then explains that he would rather voters only be able to vote on Election Day and fully supports the idea, but until he's president and can make that happen, no holds are barred.

"But until then, Republicans must win," Trump said in the video. "And we must use every appropriate tool available to beat the Democrats, they are destroying our country."

Trump added, "Whether you vote early, absentee, by mail or in-person we are going to protect the vote."

The Daily Mail noted:

The website, SwampTheVoteUSA.com, which was launched in conjunction with the Republican National Committee, allows Trump supporters to pledge to vote absentee, early, or on Election Day.

It even allows them to obtain a mail-in ballot.

"Keep you eyes open because these people want to cheat and they do cheat and frankly it's the only thing they do well," the former president continued. "The way you win is to swamp them, if we swamp them, they can't cheat, it just doesn't work out."

Social media reacts

Trump's supporters were generally on board with the idea, as many of them had said in the past that the only way to beat Democrats at this point is to play their game.

"Need to harvest votes in blue cities - the only way to win is the beat Dems at their own game!!!" one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Ohhhh ..I don’t like this but know if Republicans don’t do it they’ll lose .."
