Former President Donald Trump has experienced a fundraising boom since his criminal conviction late last month, with Fox News reporting that his recent donations have far outstripped those of President Joe Biden.

In what may be a sign of desperation, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appears to be taking over from Biden as the Democratic Party's chief fundraiser.

Clinton helped raise $8 million

According to Bloomberg, Mrs. Clinton joined Biden as well as her husband, former President Bill Clinton, at an event in Virginia last week that is said to have taken in $8 million.

The former secretary of state slammed Trump, calling him a "clear and present danger" who is "willing to sell out America — our military, our secrets, our future."

"Donald Trump spends every day thinking about himself, thinking about getting even with people who have slighted him or stood up to him," she went on to insist.

The fundraiser was held at the home of former Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe and came not long after a Fox News poll which showed Biden and Trump running neck-and-neck in Virginia.

The survey raised eyebrows among observers, as Virginia has not voted for a Republican presidential candidate since 2004 and is widely regarded as being a blue state.

NBC News: Clinton a "key player" in Biden campaign

This is not the first time Clinton has lent a hand in Biden's campaign, as OutKick reported in May that she helped arrange a fawning interview of the president with shock radio host Howard Stern.

"Believe me, there were a lot of people who were involved in helping this booking from people inferred on all that stuff — but you know who was super helpful on this? Really, really helpful. Hillary Clinton," Stern's executive producer Gary Dell'Abate was quoted as saying.

What's more, NBC News reported late last year that Clinton would act as a "key player" in the president's reelection efforts, with the network pointing to a $1 million fundraiser held at her Georgetown home.

"At the end of the day, Biden needs all the help that he can get. What he needs is both the spirit and the actual reality of unity," an unnamed Democratic strategist was quoted as telling NBC News.

Clinton endorses primary challenge to Rep. Jamal Bowman

Yet the Biden campaign isn't the only place where Mrs. Clinton has been flexing her political muscles, as Politico noted that she endorsed Westchester County Executive George Latimer in his primary challenge to far-left New York Democratic Rep. Jamal Bowman.

Bowman has grown increasingly erratic, with the congressman unleashing a barrage of profanity at a recent campaign rally.
