Questions arise over Kamala Harris' claims of having worked at McDonalds
Vice President Kamala Harris has repeatedly spoken of having worked at McDonalds as part of an effort to connect with middle-class voters.
Yet as Breitbart noted this week, pressure from questions over her story has apparently forced her to start minimizing it.
Political ads highlight experience at McDonalds
Breitbart pointed out that the vice president touted her supposed experience at the fast food chain in a campaign ad released last month.
"She grew up in a middle-class home," the ad said of Harris. "She was the daughter of a working mom and she worked at McDonald’s while she got her degree. Kamala Harris knows what it’s like to be middle class."
Another ad proclaimed, "Determination is how Kamala Harris went from working in McDonald’s to prosecutor, state attorney general, U.S. senator and our vice president in one generation."
Meanwhile, an ad put out by a pro-Harris super PAC proclaimed that the Democratic Party's nominee worked "her way through school at McDonald."
Harris claims to have had "a working mother" and "a summer job at McDonalds"
The vice president has herself directly boasted of having worked at McDonalds, including in a social media post from August 31.
Two middle-class kids.
One, a daughter of Oakland, California, who was raised by a working mother and had a summer job at McDonald’s.
The other, a son of the Nebraska plains, who spent summers on the farm.

In it she characterized herself as "a daughter of Oakland, California, who was raised by a working mother and had a summer job at McDonald's."
Meanwhile, Breitbart noted that Harris has never actually provided any evidence that she was employed at a McDonalds.
Questions raised over Harris' story
The website investigated a claim released in 2019 during Harris' failed presidential campaign that she worked at a McDonalds in Alameda, California.
While two locations were in operation at the time, no indication was given as to which one she was employed at. Neither was any explanation offered as to why Harris would work in Alameda rather than at the McDonalds on Oakland's 14th Street which was closer to her mother's house.
What's more, Breitbart cast doubt on Harris' claim of being middle class, pointing to the fact that her sister attended a private school with a $25,000 annual tuition.
Interestingly, Harris did not dwell on her time at McDonald's during a recent interview with MSNBC, simply saying that she worked there "as a kid" while others were "trying to raise families and pay rent on that."
