Top-selling boy band "One Direction" has released a statement regarding the death of former bandmate Liam Payne.

According to US Magazine, the remaining band members, which includes Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Harry Styles, issued a joint statement this week after fans were left devastated by Payne's sudden and tragic death.

Payne was pronounced dead last week after he reportedly fell from the third story of the balcony of his hotel room in Argentina.

He was in the South American country at the beginning of the month, in part to see one of his former bandmates put on a show.

What did they say?

The remaining band members' statement came in the wake of reports that Payne was acting erratic prior to his fatal fall from the hotel room.

"We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say,” the October 17 statement read from the four bandmates.

They added, “But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly. The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam."

It was noted that the statement was signed, "Louis, Zayn, Niall and Harry."

According to the BBC, staffers at the hotel where he died had made two calls to emergency officials before he fell to his death.

The outlet noted:

A caller appearing to be the chief receptionist said they had a guest who had taken "too many drugs and alcohol", and was "trashing the entire room", before the line cut out.

In a second call, the same caller warned the guest's life "may be in danger" as the room had a balcony, and asked the 911 operator to send someone "urgently".

"A little afraid"

The 911 transcripts from the hotel staffers to emergency workers were telling, clearly signaling that Payne was in distress, allegedly due to being intoxicated to some degree.

"Well, we’ve got a guest who has had too many drugs and alcohol and, well, when he is conscious he is trashing the entire room and we need you to send someone, please," the worker said on the call.

"CasaSur Palermo, and we need you to send someone urgently because, well, I don’t know whether his life may be in danger, the guest’s life. He is in a room with a balcony and well, we’re a little afraid that he…" the unnamed hotel worker said on the call.

Tributes poured in across social media in the wake of the singer's death.
