Conservative group asks Trump to pardon pro-lifers prosecuted by Biden admin
A conservative group is already calling upon President-Elect Donald Trump to pardon nearly two dozen pro-life individuals who have been prosecuted by the administration of President Joe Biden.
The conservative group, according to Fox News, is the Thomas More Society.
The group, on its website, states:
Since 1998, Thomas More Society has steadfastly preserved the rich heritage of American liberty. Our distinguished track record showcases an unwavering commitment to defending your fundamental rights to life, family, and freedom. For decades, we’ve passionately championed the causes of everyday individuals confronting remarkable injustices, from the sidewalks and town squares to the Supreme Court.
Now, the group is hoping Trump will bring some justice to these individuals.
Background
Fox explains that the Biden administration has been using the FACE Act to go after pro-life activists.
Per the outlet:
The FACE Act makes it a federal crime to use "threats of force, obstruction or inflict property damage intended to interfere with reproductive health care services." The 1994 law has been used by President Biden's Justice Department to aggressively prosecute pro-life activists since the fall of Roe v. Wade in June of 2022.
This is when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe.
Abortion activists claim that, in doing so, the court stripped women of the "right" to have an abortion. The fact of the matter, though, is that all the Supreme Court did was return the controversial issue of whether abortion ought to be legal or illegal to the people and their state representatives.
Since then, some states have passed pro-abortion legislation, while others have pursued anti-abortion legislation.
Free them!
The Thomas More Society is now calling upon Trump to free 21 individuals who have been targeted by the Biden administration.
The individuals are:
Joan Bell, Coleman Boyd, Joel Curry, Jonathan Darnel, Eva Edl, Chester Gallagher, William Goodman, Dennis Green, Lauren Handy, Paulette Harlow, John Hinshaw, Heather Idoni, Jean Marshall, Fr. Fidelis Moscinski, Justin Phillips, Paul Place, Paul Vaughn, Bevelyn Beatty Williams, Calvin Zastrow, Eva Zastrow, and James Zastrow.
Fox reports that these individuals "demonstrated at abortion facilities and been convicted on charges of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act) and conspiracy against rights."
"While Biden’s prosecutors almost entirely ignored the firebombing and vandalism of hundreds of pro-life churches and pregnancy centers, they viciously pursued pro-life Americans, obtaining convictions against them under the federal 'FACE Act' and the Ku Klux Klan Act’s 'Conspiracy Against Rights' felony provisions," the group wrote.
It added, " Peaceable actions like these usually merit, at worst, a minor misdemeanor conviction. And had they been opposing anything but abortion, Joe Biden would have given them medals—instead Biden wanted them branded as ‘convicted felons’ and imprisoned for years in a federal penitentiary.'"
