Trump administration uncovers $2 billion at the EPA that was earmarked for climate change group
The Trump administration is marching forward with cutting spending at every turn, at every government agency, and the latest findings were mind-blowing.
According to the New York Post, Administrator Lee Zeldin of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) revealed that his department had discovered a staggering $2 billion payment "to a climate group with ties to former Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams."
The tax filings for the group set to receive the money only claimed that it had $100 in revenue, which alarmed Zeldin.
The discovery is one of many uncovered in recent weeks that shows just how wasteful the Biden administration was.
What's going on?
The large pot of money was set to be given to Power Forward Communities, which was described as "a nonprofit partnered with multiple left-wing groups founded by Abrams."
Notably, the funds were kept in an outside financial institution, almost as if they didn't want the large pot of money in the public eye.
The New York Post noted:
The funds were set aside at an outside financial institution — Citibank — before Biden left office and part of a larger, $20 billion pot of money the former president’s EPA received through the Inflation Reduction Act to dole out to climate groups.
Zeldin expressed his concerns over the group essentially pretending like it wasn't receiving the massive jackpot of government money.
"It’s extremely concerning that an organization that reported just $100 in revenue in 2023 was chosen to receive $2 billion,” Zeldin said, referring to the group's latest tax filings. “That’s 20 million times the organization’s reported revenue."
The news comes on the heels of Zeldin announcing last week that he had found the $20 billion that the Biden administration "squirreled away" with the hopes that the Trump administration couldn't take it back.
What other money?
Zeldin, in a statement last week, was fully transparent with what he found and what he intends to do about it.
"I made a commitment to members of Congress and to the American people to be a good steward of tax dollars and I’ve wasted no time in keeping my word,” Zeldin told the Washington Free Beacon at the time.
"When we learned about the Biden Administration’s scheme to quickly park $20 billion outside the agency, we suspected that some organizations were created out of thin air just to take advantage of this."
It'll be interesting, and aggravating, to find out what else the Biden administration tried to hide.
