DANIEL VAUGHAN: New Orleans Terrorist Attack Encapulates Biden Administration
We are kicking off 2025 with unfortunate news: terrorism has returned to the streets of America. New Orleans and Las Vegas experienced awful attacks, and those events impacted other communities. It's also a painful reminder of how the Biden administration has made the world less safe abroad and at home.
In his slurred, weak speech on the terrorist attack in New Orleans, outgoing President Biden told Americans that Shamsud Din Jabbar, the dead suspect, "posted videos on social media indicating they were inspired by ISIS expressing a desire to kill, the desire to kill ...The ISIS flag was found in his vehicle, which he rented to conduct this attack."
Additionally, explosives were found in the vehicle and nearby. There's no question this was terrorist-inspired. His family said he'd been radicalized. The views we have of his home are that he had a squalid quality of life and had nothing left in life.
The same day, all this went down, and a Tesla Cybertruck was put in front of the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas and blew up. All the press covered it like the Cybertruck blew up on its own in an attempt to attack Elon Musk, but this is also being treated like a terrorist attack.
Elon Musk and Tesla aided police officers, providing software feedback from the vehicle and video recordings from charging stations. The driver died in the explosion, and seven others were hospitalized.
There's no evidence that either event is linked at this time, but it's hard to avoid that conclusion. It's also hard to avoid the unmistakable political terrorist message of exploding one of Elon Musk's cars in front of a Trump hotel. After Democrats spent the last few weeks calling Musk the real president, connecting the two in a manner like this is unfortunately predictable.
Since the first Trump assassination plot over the summer, we've experienced multiple rounds of political violence on all sides. The return of ISIS-inspired terrorism is a reminder that Biden did nothing to increase the defenses or protection of Americans, either here or abroad.
Whether you're an American hostage in Gaza or dealing with terrorist attacks here, the conclusion is the same: we are in a much less safe world, and the White House sits on its hands.
The more the White House tells everyone that Biden is on the case and at the top of his game, the more of these events we see. A more cynical view of the FBI would simply await them admitting that this guy was "on their radar." Every time we hear that line, it's after the event is already over.
It's not just Biden asleep at the wheel; it's hard to find anyone simply doing his or her job. The basic defense of the country is falling to the wayside of terrorist attacks on U.S. soil. And beyond that, from Butler, Pennsylvania to Las Vegas, Nevada, it'd be helpful if Democrats cooled their rhetoric about everything.
2025 is starting off with a reminder of some of the darkest moments of 2024 with the assassination attempts. Instead of moving beyond those things, we're faced with them again. These attacks are a direct assault on the country, our way of life, and everyone in it.
Some Democrats are seeing the light and demanding change. Former Representative Dean Phillips, who tried to challenge Joe Biden in a primary but got rebuffed by the press and establishment, released his solutions. "America's new year's resolution must be ending the tolerance of disorder. Enough already. 1. Re-institutionalization of those who cannot live on their own and who pose threats to the public. 2. Harsh sentences for any crime of violence with rehab services. 3. Intensive public service sentences for non-violent crimes with rehab services."
Will that get us to where we need to be? I don't know, but I am glad to see other people pointing out the obvious. We need more in Congress pushing in that direction. Donald Trump obviously takes a harsh view of terrorists in the country.
The end of Biden's White sums up everything prior to it. The line from the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle and the Ukraine war to the present is a nonstop litany of errors that made the world less safe. And now he's leaving and delivering condolences for ISIS terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.
At no point during this presidency has Biden had answers or even shown up. It's back to vacation for Biden and his team. They've checked already, which is why every foreign leader on earth is dealing with Trump now, not Biden.
