Alex Bruesewitz invited to Jan 6 Electoral College certification
Monday, Jan. 6 was a big day for many, but especially two groups: President-elect Donald Trump and his campaign staffers, and those who were part of the Jan. 6 2021 rally, four years ago. Several members of both of those groups gathered in Washington D.C. On Monday to see the 2024 presidential election certified.
Alex Bruesewitz was asked by Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX) to witness the Electoral College certification of President-elect Donald Trump by Congress on January 6, as Breitbart News reported.
According to a press release that Gooden shared with Breitbart News, Bruesewitz was "one of the many innocent Americans" who had been singled out and bullied by the January 6 Select Committee, which was run by Democrats.
“Bruesewitz was one of the many innocent Americans wrongly targeted, harassed, and financially drained by the thoroughly discredited January 6th Committee,” Gooden said. “I look forward to having him as my guest.”
Guest Response
After receiving the invitation from Gooden, Bruesewitz stated that he was "excited to witness" the certification of President-elect Donald Trump's victory in the popular vote and the Electoral College.
The Trump ally also referred to the offer to witness the event as a "tremendous honor."
“Trump’s Electoral College (and popular vote!) victory was historic, and I am excited to witness its certification,” Bruesewitz said in a statement. “This will be my first time data the Capitol on January 6th. It’s a tremendous honor!”
Previous Jan. 6 Impact
It was previously reported by Breitbart News that Bruesewitz asserted his right to the Fifth Amendment when he was called to testify before the Select Committee on January 6.
Bruesewitz indicated in his prepared remarks that he declined the initial offer to voluntarily come in to speak with them "because the Committee is improperly constituted" and that he had "no knowledge about the 'attack' on the Capitol."
Recent Media Attention
This invitation arrives little more than one month after 27-year-old Bruesewitz fainted and fell to the floor while speaking at a banquet hosted by the New York Young Republican Club.
Online footage indicates that 27-year-old Bruesewitz passed out while presenting Dan Scavino, an incoming senior staffer to the White House, at a Manhattan location.
As soon as he fell, a number of people came racing over to help. What made him pass out was unclear at first.
The event's master of ceremonies, Raheem Kassam—who had previously worked as an adviser to British conservative politician Nigel Farage—subsequently reassured the crowd that Bruesewitz was doing well behind the scenes and had even inquired if he "look[ed] cool" before passing out.
From Key Players
"I talked to our friend Alex Bruesewitz and you know what he said to me? He goes 'Did I at least look cool?' I said Alex, you used gravity like I've seen nobody use gravity before in their lives," Kassam said. "But he's recuperating back there, so give him a big cheer so he'll hear you."
In addition, Trump reportedly told the New York Post that he thinks Bruesewitz will be alright after the collapse.
"I know that Alex is going to be fine because he’s a tough son of a gun," Trump said. "There’s no doubt about that. So I want to say hello to Alex, because he’s a very special guy."
