Associated Press facing backlash for a lie by omission

The Associated Press is facing some significant criticism for essentially lying about the two men who have been accused of killing a 12-year-old girl in Houston, Texas.

Fox News reports that the Associated Press, when reporting on this story, committed a lie by omission.

What the outlet omitted was the fact that, according to Fox, the suspects are illegal immigrants.

There is little doubt that the outlet omitted this fact because it goes against the Democrats' open-borders agenda and because it proves that former President Donald Trump is right about the type of people that President Joe Biden has been letting into the country. Trump has directly blamed Biden for the murder.

The Associated Press's report

A major break in the case came on Thursday, when the police arrested two men in connection with the murder, namely, 21-year-old Johan Jose Rangel Martinez and 26-year-old Franklin Jose Pena Ramos.

The Associated Press reported that the arrest came after the two men "were seen on surveillance footage with a 12-year-old girl before her body was found in a Houston creek."

A medical examiner determined that the girl died by strangulation. Her body was found in a shallow creek on Monday, after she, on the previous evening, had snuck out of her house.

The outlet reports:

Police said that surveillance footage showed the men meeting up with Jocelyn before walking to a convenience store with her. The three then walked to the bridge together where Jocelyn was killed, police said.

Now, Martinez and Ramos are each facing capital murder charges.

Here's what the Associated Press left out:

As mentioned earlier, the outlet omitted the fact that both of these individuals are illegal immigrants. But, there is more to the story than this.

"The suspects were illegal immigrants from Venezuela who crossed over the U.S. southern border in March," Fox reports.

The outlet later adds, "[T]he same day of their arrest, Fox News reported that the two suspects from Venezuela had entered the U.S. illegally before being released from custody, news that Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed the next day."

The Associated Press's omission has led to outrage among Republicans, including U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). He wrote:

.@ap is fundamentally dishonest. “2 men” Entire story doesn’t mention that the murderers were ILLEGAL ALIENS. This is not journalism. And hundreds of smaller outlets will run this word-for-word.

At the time of this writing, the Associated Press has still not updated its report to reflect the fact that the suspects are illegal immigrants whom the Biden administration recently released into America.
