Biden promotes Karine Jean-Pierre to senior adviser role

One of the main criticisms of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris is that it seems they're too afraid to fire people who should have been fired long ago.

In contrast, former President Donald Trump fired his people left and right if they weren't performing to his high standards, which paved the way for better-qualified people to lead the way.

One person in the Biden White House who many say should have been terminated a long time ago, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, received shocking career news this week.

According to the New York Post, President Biden promoted the struggling press secretary to a coveted senior adviser role, held by some of the most high-profile political operatives in the past.

What's going on?

While Biden promoted KJP to one of his senior advisers for his last three months in office, she'll reportedly continue to be the lead press secretary.

That news comes despite previous "shadowy" efforts to have her removed as press secretary after turning in several dismal performances that made previous press secretaries look absolutely amazing.

"Karine has been a trusted adviser to the President and all of us here at the White House since day one. Her counsel will be critical to get as much done as possible for the American people in the coming months," said White House chief of staff Jeff Zients.

The Post noted:

Many reporters see the promotion as the latest in a series of episodes resembling the plot of “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” the folk tale in which courtiers refrain from questioning a bumbling leader’s ineptitude.

There were reports earlier this year of efforts to remove KJP from her position.

The Post added:

Former Biden senior adviser Anita Dunn, then de facto leader of White House communications strategy, led a shadowy effort last year to remove Jean-Pierre, the first non-white and first openly LGBT press secretary — viewing her as a poor spokesperson for Biden’s since-aborted re-election campaign.

Social media reacts

Users across social media were not thrilled with the idea of KJP earning a promotion.

"Shortest DEI promotion EVER! I hope she enjoys a few weeks," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Makes perfect sense. KJP lied and covered for them. She’s loyal to the regime. Plus you know DEI. She checks alot of boxes."
