California cuts fire prevention efforts while spending billions on illegal aliens
Breitbart reported this past weekend that Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Chief Kristin Crowley failed to pre-deploy personnel ahead of last month's deadly blaze because budget cuts have made it difficult to pay overtime.
This shortage of funds could be explained by the fact that California is paying billions of dollars on health care for illegal migrants.
Illegal aliens racked up $9.5 billion worth of healthcare costs
Guadalupe Manriquez serves as program budget manager for the California Department of Finance, and according to Fox News, he provided some shocking figures to lawmakers last week.
Specifically, he told members of the California Assembly Budget Committee that the state is "spending $9.5 billion total funds" to “cover undocumented individuals in Medi-Cal."
That revelation brought outrage from Golden State Republicans, including California Assembly Minority Leader James Gallagher.
"The state is shelling out $9.5 billion on healthcare for illegal immigrants while emergency rooms overflow, hospitals teeter on the brink and working Californians struggle to see a doctor," Gallagher was quoted as saying.
"Rather than making responsible choices, leaders are raiding the rainy-day fund to keep the spending spree going. This isn’t just a budget crisis — it’s a complete failure of leadership," he added.
Report: Gavin Newsom cut over $100 million from fire prevention efforts
Breitbart noted how LAFD isn't alone in being short of funds, as Newsweek reported last month that California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom cut more than $100 million from fire prevention efforts in the current fiscal year.

"An analysis of California's 2024 Budget Bill, which covers its budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year, by the state's Legislative Analyst's Office concluded it slashed $101 million from seven 'wildfire and forest resilience' programs," the magazine stated.
"Cuts included a reduction of $5 million in spending on CAL FIRE fuel reduction teams, including funds used to pay for vegetation management work by the California National Guard," it added.
Trump says "Gavin" Newscum" is to blame for state "burning down to the ground"
Newsweek noted that Newsom's spending priorities were met with harsh criticism on social media, including from President Donald Trump.
"One of the best and most beautiful parts of the United States of America is burning down to the ground," Trump declared in a Truth Social post.
The president went on to assert that "Gavin Newscum" should resign as governor since California's fire crisis "is all his fault."
