The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) may search additional locations for more classified documents connected to President Joe Biden.

The news comes after six additional documents were found in the president's Delaware home on Friday.

The latest

"According to CBS News Radio White House Correspondent Steven Portnoy, there are now somewhere between 25 and 30 documents in total that have been found, including from the Penn Biden Center and his garage in Wilmington, RedState reported.

"Some of the documents have come from Biden’s time as a senator and vice president," it added.

The documents

“DOJ took possession of materials it deemed within the scope of its inquiry, including six items consisting of documents with classification markings and surrounding materials, some of which were from the President’s service in the Senate and some of which were from his tenure as Vice President," Bob Bauer, the president’s personal attorney, said in a statement.

"DOJ also took for further review personally handwritten notes from the vice-presidential years," it added.

The six items are in addition to previous batches of classified documents found in Biden's Delaware home and in his Penn Center office.

Some documents from Biden's Senate tenure

The statement that some documents date back to Biden's time in the Senate reveals some of the materials could be from more than a decade in the past. It is unclear what the contents of the documents contain.

Biden's investigation into the classified documents comes as the president was expected to announce his plans to run for reelection in 2024. Now some believe those plans could be pushed back several weeks.

The documents also come as a blessing for former President Donald Trump who faced his own criticisms over classified documents found during a raid of his Mar-a-Lago home last year.

The battle over the documents is also likely to play an important role as both Biden and Trump look to potentially face off again in the campaign to become president in 2024.
