Fox News viewers were shocked this week when Guardian Angels leader Curtis Sliwa oversaw a citizen's arrest while being interviewed by host Sean Hannity.

According to Breitbart, the incident played out on Tuesday evening as Silwa spoke with Hannity about New York City's growing crime problem.

"In fact, our guys have just taken down one of the migrant guys right here on the corner of 42nd and 7th while all this is taking place," Sliwa told the Fox News host.

"They’ve taken over," Sliwa complained as the camera panned over to show a man being held on the ground by members of the Guardian Angels, a non-profit public safety group founded nearly five decades ago.

According to the organization's website, the Guardian Angels began in the late 1970s with a group of McDonald's employees that Sliwa managed.

Sliwa claims that detained man is a migrant from South America

"The Guardian Angels spotted him, stopped him, he resisted, and let's just say we gave him a little pain compliance," Sliwa explained before adding, "His mother back in Venezuela felt the vibrations."

"He's sucking concrete; the cops scraped him off the asphalt. He’s on his way to jail, but they’ll cut him loose," Sliwa lamented.

"We gotta take 42nd Street back, Sean," Sliwa told Hannity. These illegals think they own this street, they think they rule the night.

"This is our country, if they can’t abide by the rules, then we’re gonna kick 'em back from where they came," the conservative activist insisted.

However, the New York Post reported that the NYPD later disputed Sliwa's claim that the man in question was shoplifting.

Police spokesperson disputes Sliwa's shoplifting claim

"Upon arrival, officers observed a male being detained by bystanders," the Post quoted an NYPD spokesperson as saying in a statement.

"Officers were informed that the male had repeatedly attempted to interfere with and disrupt a live television interview," the spokesperson continued before adding, "The male was issued a summons for disorderly conduct."

In addition to his role as Guardian Angels founder, Sliwa is also known for having unsuccessfully run for mayor of New York City as a Republican, losing to Democrat Eric Adams two years ago.
