House GOP leadership investigating Trump prosecutor's ties to Biden administration

DA Alvin Bragg has all kinds of problems in his pursuit to convict former President Donald Trump.

According to Fox News, the House Judiciary Committee dropped a major bomb on the case after it announced that it's investigating a top prosecutor on the case against Trump, due to his ties to President Joe Biden's administration.

The investigation comes as many believe the case against Trump -- all the cases - are a coordinated effort to hinder his 2024 presidential campaign.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced the investigation this week into Bragg prosecutor Matthew Colangelo.

What's going on?

Jordan reportedly demanded documents from U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland regarding Colangelo's past employment as a senior Justice Department official in the Biden administration.

The Ohio Republican leader held nothing back in his letter to Garland, saying outright that he and and other Republicans are suspicious of Colangelo's ties to Biden, who happens to be Trump's political opponent.

"The Committee on the Judiciary is conducting oversight of politically motivated prosecutions by state and local officials," the letter read, which was obtained by Fox News Digital.

He added, "Since last year, popularly elected prosecutors—who campaigned for office on the promise of prosecuting President Trump—engaged in an unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority: the indictment of a former President of the United States and current leading candidate for that office."

Jordan argued that Colangelo's role in the Bragg case creates a "perception" of coordination with the Biden administration.

"Politicized prosecution"

The Republican Chairman doubled down in his request for records related to Colangelo's previous employment.

"New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg is engaged in one such politicized prosecution, which is being led in part by Matthew B. Colangelo, a former senior Justice Department official," Jordan wrote.

He added, "Accordingly, given the perception that the Justice Department is assisting in Bragg’s politicized prosecution, we write to request information and documents related to Mr. Colangelo’s employment."

Many, including Trump and other Republicans, have insisted that Bragg's case against the former president is part of a larger political "witch hunt," and more proof of that seems to emerge by the week.
