During an interview with Gayle King that took place on Thursday for CBS Mornings, Kevin Costner took the opportunity to promote his newest picture, Horizon, but not without a fight from his interviewer.

However, according to a report by The Daily Beast, he did not avoid some of the questions put to him about his previous project, the hit TV show Yellowstone.

During the CBS sit down, the actor had not yet made public the news that he would not be returning to the show's final fifth season.

Timing of the Interview

This was because the previously recorded conversation took place before he had announced his intention to end his time on the show, which he announced a week before the conversation aired.

Costner abruptly put an end to the chat when King pressed him about whether or not he would be returning to the show. "We're not going to discuss this on the show really, honestly," he stated, displaying a clear sign of irritation.

In the midst of the supposed rivalry between Costner and Taylor Sheridan, the writer and creator of the show, Costner has been secretive about his thoughts.

However, as he has been out and about promoting his "passion project," he has been confronted with a plethora of inquiries regarding his future on the popular Western drama.

The Announcement

Following his appearance on CBS Mornings, Costner made the decision to put an end to the months of conjecture that had been surrounding his return.

In a video that he uploaded to his social media accounts the previous week, he stated, "After this long year and a half of working on Horizon and thinking about Yellowstone, that beloved series that I love and that I know you love, I just realized that I'm not going to be able to continue season 5B or into the future." He was referring to the current season of Yellowstone.

“It was something that really changed me. I loved it and I know you loved it, and I just wanted to let you know that I won't be returning.”

However, during their interview, King had prepared to ask a number of questions that the show's viewers had been asking for a number of months at the time of the sit-down.

Pressure from King

While Kevin Costner was describing how much he enjoyed working on Yellowstone, she posed the following question: “If it's not that hard, why can't the two of you be able to work it out? People would love to see that.”

As he proceeded to skirt the mammoth topic, King doubled down on his position, noting the "characterization" of the actor in the press in the midst of the claimed drama between the two men:

She summarized some of the reports that have surfaced during the show's break by saying, “You made demands, you want to have a certain schedule, you want to shoot at a certain time, you want certain money,” she said, summarizing some of the reports that have come to light during the show's hiatus.

And Costner was not going to put up with it: "It's not therapy, Gayle," he added as he appeared irritated in his seat, and in the end, he told her, "We're not going to discuss this."
