Man who leaked Justice Ginsburg's medical records sentenced to 2 years in prison
The left is relentless toward their own U.S. Supreme Court justices whenever they feel, for whatever reason, they need to retire or otherwise step down.
That was evident in the lead-up to the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, as Democrats were desperate to push her off the high court to avoid what inevitably happened with President Donald Trump replacing her after her death.
According to The Hill, at the time, some of Ginsburg's medical records had been leaked that showed she was undergoing cancer treatment in 2019, and the leaker was recently sentenced to prison.
The outlet noted that Trent Russell, 34, who worked as the transplant coordinator at Washington Regional Transplant Community Center, received two years in prison for leaking her records at the time.
What happened?
Given his position, Russell had access to medical records throughout the region, which provided access to Ginsburg's medical records while she was undergoing treatment for cancer.
Earlier this year, Russell was convicted of "illegally accessing health care records and destroying or altering records at a jury trial," which ultimately led to prison time.
As far as how the records were leaked, Russell admitted he was using 4Chan, a conspiracy-driven forum that draws millions of views and is often the source of major leaks.
The Hill noted:
Russell admitted being active on 4chan, an online message board known for trafficking in dark conspiracy theories, when he released the records, fueling antisemitic conspiracy theories that Democrats were trying to cover up a falsified Ginsburg death to control the Supreme Court. Ginsburg served on the Supreme Court until her death in 2020 at age 87.
However, the leaker's defense was laughable, at best, as he attempted to convince the jury that it was likely his cat that walked across his keyboard and somehow accidentally uploaded Ginsburg's medical records.
That was also proven untrue after an FBI agent who scanned his hard drive confirmed that he had visited the forum and clicked on several posts related to the Democrat conspiracy theory regarding Ginsburg.
"Despicable"
"You have made it extremely difficult to understand what motivated you,” U.S. District Judge Michael Nachmanoff said at his sentencing.
The judge also labeled Russell's crimes as "truly despicable conduct."
He noted that Russell only made things worse by lying about the situation on the witness stand and to investigators.
It's unclear if he will appeal the sentence.
