Melania Trump cautions Americans against trusting their government
Former President Donald Trump received some good news last week in the form of positive poll numbers from the critical swings states of Arizona and Michigan.
Yet while Mr. Trump is running to be the country's chief executive, his wife recently cautioned that Americans should nevertheless be wary of their government.
Melania Trump: "The government should not control us"
According to The Hill, Melania Trump issued that warning during an interview this past Friday with "Some Future Day" podcast host Marc Beckman.
After talking about her time growing up in a communist country, Beckman asked Mrs. Trump whether or not people can trust the government.
"Trust in the government, that’s a little bit tricky… because it’s so many people involved, that’s why, and so many rules and in one way, the government should not control us," she said.
"Can you trust the government?" the former first lady asked before remarking, "Not in everything. You need to be vigilant."
Mrs. Trump recalls in new book how her privacy was "invaded" by FBI raid
This is not the first time that Mrs. Trump has expressed concern over government overreach, as she also did so last month in a video posted to social media.
In her video, the former first lady recalled how her home was raided by FBI agents over two years ago as part of an investigation by Special Counsel Jack Smith.
"I never imagined my privacy would be invaded by the government here in America," she declared. "The FBI raided my home in Florida and searched through my personal belongings."

"This is not just my story, it serves as a warning to all Americans, a reminder that our freedom and rights must be respected," Mrs. Trump went on to say.
Former first lady and son were rejected by their bank following January 6
Those comments were an excerpt from the former first lady's new memoir titled "Melania," which went on sale earlier this month.
In addition to going over her experience with the FBI's raid, Mrs. Trump also lamented the "venom of cancel culture," recounting how she and her son Barron were rejected by their bank following the events of January 6.
"I was shocked and dismayed to learn that my long-time bank decided to terminate my account and deny my son the opportunity to open a new one," the UK's Independent quoted her as writing.
