Nathan Wade at the scene when Fani Willis' daughter was arrested last month

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was celebrated by Democrats last year for indicting former President Donald Trump on racketeering over his conduct following the 2020 election.

Yet in a development that could give Trump reason to laugh, Willis was on the scene when her daughter was recently arrested.

Daughter claimed not to know that her driver's license had been revoked

According to the New York Post, the prosecutor's daughter Kinaya Willis was pulled over in Tyrone, Georgia on August 24 for using her cell phone while driving.

A subsequent check of the 25-year-old Texas Southern University student license revealed that it had been previously revoked.

The younger Willis said she was on the phone "due to her mother calling her related to her pregnancy" and professed to be unaware that her license had been revoked earlier this year when she was caught driving after it had been suspended.

Footage from an officer's body camera showed Fani Willis showing up at the scene to take possession of her daughter's 2010 Nissan Altima.

Nathan Wade was at the scene despite testimony that he and Willis split up

Interestingly, the Post also pointed out that Fulton County's district attorney was accompanied at the scene by her purportedly ex-lover Nathan Wade.

While the elder Willis simply described Wade as "a friend," his presence could undermine her sworn testimony that the pair ended their relationship in 2023.

As Fox News noted, Trump and his co-defendants maintain that Willis should be removed from the case on the grounds that her dalliance with Wade amounted to impropriety.

Specifically, they allege that Willis gave Wade a six-figure job on Trump's prosecution team who then paid for the couple to go on expensive trips.

Both figures deny the claim, with Willis insisting that she reimbursed Wade from a large store of cash which she kept in her home.

Defense lawyer says racism claim should get charges dismissed

Questions over her connection with Wade are not Willis' only concern, as Trump defense lawyer Steven Sadow submitted a filing with the Georgia Court of Appeals that called for charges against his client to be dismissed.

At issue are allegations of racism put forward by Willis during a speech at Atlanta's Big Bethel AME Church this past January, something Sadow says created impermissible prejudice against Trump.
