President-elect Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama made headlines for an unexpected an intriguing reason at the late President Jimmy Carter's funeral this week.

Video footage of the two presidents talking and laughing immediately went viral, and the footage also immediately raised questions as to what they were talking about.

According to the New York Post, a lip-reading forensic expert recently weighed in on what was believed to have been said in the conversation between the two.

The alleged things they said to each other have only resulted in more questions being raised.

What happened?

Lip-reading expert Jermey Freeman said while the two presidents appeared to be smiling and joking, there were likely very serious issues at hand.

Freeman said at one point, Trump, who was likely cautious of the TV cameras on him and Obama, told the former residence that they needed to "find a quiet place" later in the day to discuss a "matter of importance."

It's not clear what the context behind the conversation was, but Freeman suggested it possibly revolved around international agreements of some sort.

The Post noted:

At one point, Trump leaned toward Obama and said, “I’ve pulled out of that. It’s the conditions. Can you imagine that?”

Trump withdrew from Obama’s 2015 Iran nuclear deal and the 2016 Paris Climate Agreement in his first term, though it’s unclear if those pacts were what was being discussed.

"Call me at the foy after, yep," Trump replied to Obama during their exchange, Freeman said. The suggestion is thought to be in reference to the National Cathedral.

"I can’t talk, we have to find a quiet place sometime. This is a matter of importance and we need to do this outside so that we can deal with it, certainly, today," Trump reportedly said, which triggered a nod from Obama.

The Post added:

The lip reader also interpreted Obama as saying “listen to me, it’s a chore, a chore” — though the context didn’t make clear what he was referencing — and Trump replying, “Yeah, right. I can’t think of anything that’s a chore.”

Social media blows up

The conversation and the potential words exchanged between the two presidents sparked many theories as to what might have been discussed.

The exchange was interesting on its head, given that Obama and Trump have been mortal political enemies from day one.

Only time will tell if the nation ever finds out exactly what was discussed at the funeral and why.
