While some high-profile Democrats rushed to President Joe Biden's defense following his abysmal debate performance on Thursday, a new report suggests that former First Lady Michelle Obama won't be joining them.

According to a recent article put out by Axios, Mrs. Obama has avoided campaigning for Biden due to a personal dispute.

Mrs. Obama said to be upset over treatment of Hunter Biden's ex-wife

Published on Wednesday, the report states that she "privately has expressed frustration" over the treatment of Hunter Biden's ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle.

The website stated earlier this month that Buhle has been "largely exiled" by the president and current first lady from Biden family life.

It noted how during Hunter Biden's felony gun crime trial, "Buhle also was confronted with testimony from Beau's widow, Hallie Biden."

Hallie Biden, who is the widow of Hunter's brother Beau, testified that her romantic relationship with Hunter began during a period in which he and Buhle were supposedly working on their marriage.

Buhle and the former first lady are known to be close friends

What's more, Buhle recounted in her memoir, titled "If We Break: A Memoir of Marriage, Addiction, and Healing," that she learned of her husband's affair after her daughters discovered incriminating messages on a device in November of 2016.

Axios further pointed out that while Jill Biden was present in court for part of her stepson's trial, she made a point of leaving when Buhle was called to testify.

Newsweek stressed that Buhle and Mrs. Obama are known to be close friends, a fact which was attested to by Hunter Biden himself in his own memoir, "Beautiful Things."

He recalled how the pair "worked out together at the gym and often had evening cocktails at the White House, at both formal and informal events."

White House and Ms. Obama deny animosity

The allegation that Mrs. Obama is in a feud with the Biden family was quickly met with pushback, including from the White House.

Crystal Carson serves as a spokesperson for the former first lady, and Newsweek quoted her as saying that Mrs. Obama "is friends with Kathleen and with the Bidens. Two things can be true."

White House spokesperson Andrew Bates sounded a similar note, stating, "The Biden and Obama families are like family to one other, and whomever made these claims about that relationship isn't familiar with it."
