Sec. of State Rubio ends gas and oil permits for Venezuela

President Donald Trump and his Cabinet officials are making power moves left and right, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio just proved that once again.

According to the Daily Caller, the State Department under Trump and Rubio will not be helping out socialist dictators, which was evidenced when the two pulled the plug on Biden-issued permits that allowed oil and gas development in Venezuela, which is run by dictator Nicolas Maduro.

The Biden-era licenses provided substantial funds to Maduro and his socialism-infested country. That ended this week.

Sec. Rubio announced the end of the permits this week in a post on his X account.

What's happening?

Rubio held nothing back in his announcement, calling the Biden-era permits "shameful."

"Today, pursuant to @POTUS directive, I am providing foreign policy guidance to terminate all Biden-era oil and gas licenses that have shamefully bankrolled the illegitimate Maduro regime," Rubio wrote.

The Daily Caller noted:

The Biden administration broadly attempted to coax the Maduro regime into holding a free and fair election in exchange for easing pressure on the country’s heavily-sanctioned oil and gas sector, but those efforts evidently failed as Maduro continued to crack down on his opposition and has been accused of rigging the July 2024 elections.

Chevron was provided a license to operate in Venezula in 2022 by the Biden administration, "freeing up some cash for the Maduro regime in exchange for moving toward a free and fair election," the report added.

The plan was described in D.C as "oil for democracy."

Social media reaction

"Finally, a move that puts America first instead of funding dictators. Thank You - Secretary Rubio," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Who is going to follow up to ENSURE the licenses are actually terminated? We have learned that proving “guidance” is not enough! We know 90% of government are far left activists working to subvert President Trump’s policies. Please make certain these licenses have indeed been terminated!"

Maduro is the latest foreign leader and dictator to be put on notice by the Trump administration.

It's refreshing to see the administration make the moves that have needed to be made for years.
