Secret Service sniper says in letter that another assassination attempt should be expected

A Secret Service sniper spoke out in a letter to the entire Secret Service Uniformed Division, saying that another assassination attempt on a presidential candidate should be expected unless the agency fixes security flaws that led to an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

The sniper, whose name was redacted on the letter that was shared first with Real Clear Politics, said that he won't stop speaking out until "5 high-level supervisors (1 down) are either fired or removed from their current positions."

“This agency NEEDS to change, if not now, WHEN? The NEXT assassination attempt in 30 days?” he said. “We all SHOULD expect another attempt to happen before November. We’ve exposed our inability to protect our leaders due to our leadership.”

Law enforcement told the New York Post that the letter was authentic.

"Fallen short"

“Sadly we have fallen short for YEARS. We just got lucky and looked good doing it. I have conveyed these thoughts to not only supervisors … Only to be brushed off as those with less experience somehow knew more than me,” the letter read.

The assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on July 13, resulting in him being hit in the ear with a bullet, is “a stain I will never be able to cleanse," the sniper said.

The agency deleted the email quickly, and when pressed for the reason why, acting director Ronald Rowe Jr. didn't have a good reason.

"Emotions are raw"

"My agency is hurting. Emotions are raw. I actually want to hear more from that [Uniform Division] officer, that technician in his email, he referenced that he had spent time serving our nation as a United States Marine, that he is a 20-year professional of the Secret Service," Rowe said.

Rowe also said he is "committed to being a change agent," but where is the evidence of that?

If he's more worried about optics and hurt feelings, he's pretty much the same as his predecessor Kimberly Cheatle.

The problems exposed so far as the FBI has investigated the shooting are many: diverting resources from Trump to First Lady Jill Biden, who was also appearing in the area, lack of communication with local law enforcement who first noticed the shooter as a suspicious person almost two hours before the shooting occurred, and not removing Trump from the stage once they were alerted to his presence.

The Secret Service complained that local law enforcement didn't notify them about a suspicious person at the rally, which delayed their response when the shooting occurred.

They did shoot down the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, within seconds of him firing at Trump, but not in time to prevent the killing of a rallygoer and injury to two others.
