Terry Funk, a WWE Hall of Famer and former professional wrestler, passes away at the age of 79

Terry Funk, a former professional wrestler who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, has passed away, according to Breitbart News.

He was 79 years of age at the time of his death.

From 1965 all the way up until 2017, Funk had a career that stretched an astonishing 52 years.

Mick Foley, who was a close friend of Funk and had worked with him in the past, expressed his sorrow on X, formerly Twitter, and paid respect to the man he called his "idol."

“Terry Funk is gone. I just talked to Terry’s daughter, Brandee, who gave me the awful news," Foley wrote. "He was my mentor, my idol, one of the closest friends. He was the greatest wrestler I ever saw."

“If you get the chance, look up a Terry Funk match or a Terry Funk promo, and give thanks that this incredible man gave so much, for so long, to so many,” Funk continued.

“There will never be another like him. May God bless Terry, his friends, family and all who loved him. RIP my dear friend – it was an honor to know you.”

Pro wrestling legend Ric Flair also offered his thoughts on Funk's passing.

“In My Entire Life, I’ve Never Met A Guy Who Worked Harder. Terry Funk Was A Great Wrestler, Entertainer, Unbelievably Fearless, And A Great Friend! Rest In Peace My Friend Terry Funk Knowing That No One Will Ever Replace You In The World Of Professional Wrestling!”

“WWE extends its condolences to Funk’s family, friends and fans,” said Funk’s former employer.

Fans also shared some of their favorite moments from the late entertainers' career.
