While Barron Trump made headlines when he began taking classes at New York University (NYU) last month, he has otherwise kept a relatively low public profile.

However, a figure close to former President Donald Trump recently acknowledged that Barron is nevertheless playing a major behind-the-scenes role in his father's campaign.

Former president says younger son gives him political advice

"Barron has been very involved in recommending a number of the podcasts that we should do," the New York Post quoted Trump campaign senior adviser Jason Miller as telling Politico's "Playbook Deep Dive" podcast this past Friday.

"I got to tell you, hats off to the young man. Every single recommendation he’s had has turned out to be absolute ratings gold that’s broke the internet," Miller explained

"When you look at the impact of podcasts or YouTube shows — non-traditional media — part of the thing is you’re meeting voters where they're at," he stressed.

Meanwhile, the Post noted how Trump said during a May interview with Philadelphia's Talk Radio 1210 WPHT that his youngest son offers political advice, stating, "He'll tell me sometimes, 'Dad, this is what you have to do.'

Barron said to be unfazed by personal attacks

One of the podcasters that Trump has spoken with is "Valuetainment" host Patrick Bet-David, and in an episode earlier this year, he recalled attending a dinner that Barron put on.

He observed how the younger Barron seemed entirely unfazed by the prospect of getting publicly attacked now that he is a legal adult.

"'They said the other day, it's officially fair game to come after me,'" Bet-David quoted him as saying. "'I don't care--good, do it. I get it, they've done it to every kid. What's the difference?'"

Podcast host: Barron "wasn't snide, he wasn't telling dirty jokes"

Fellow podcast host Tom Ellsworth was at the dinner as well, and he too expressed a positive opinion of how the younger Trump had conducted himself.

Ellsworth remarked that Barron "wasn't snide, he wasn't telling dirty jokes" and instead came off as being "very, very balanced, talking about getting ready to go to college."

Bet-David's fellow podcast host Vincent Oshana was at the dinner as well, and described the president's youngest son as being a "witty, smart, hilarious" individual with "a good head on his shoulders."

Meanwhile, Bet-David was impressed with Barron's sense of humor and the way in which the former president's son made light of his luxurious upbringing.
