New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez made headlines late last week after being indicted on federal bribery charges.

That caught the attention of former President Donald Trump, who responded by taking off the gloves in a post on Truth Social.

Menendez accused of receiving gold bars as part of Egyptian bribery scheme

According to Fox News, Menendez is accused of getting gold bars and other valuables in exchange for helping the Egyptian government.

Authorities say the scheme also included Nadine Menendez, as well as New Jersey real estate developer Fred Daibes, businessman Jose Uribe, and Wael Hana, who runs a halal meat certification business.

"Menendez also improperly advised and pressured an official at the United States Department of Agriculture for the purpose of protecting a business monopoly granted to Hana by Egypt and used in part to fund the bribes being paid to Menendez through Nadine Menendez," the indictment was quoted as saying.

As Breitbart reported, Trump reacted to the news by lashing out at both Democratic members of the Senate as well as President Joe Biden.

Trump says all Democratic senators "knew what was going on"

"Senate Democrats should all resign based on Senator Bob Menendez! They all knew what was going on, and the way he lived," Trump declared.

"Why doesn’t the FBI raid Senate Democrat's homes like they illegally raided Mar-a-Lago, where nothing was done wrong based on the Presidential Records Act," he added.

"Can you imagine how much Crooked Joe Biden has stolen, and what’s in some of his many homes?" the former president added.

"The FBI and 'Justice' notified him that they would be going in to look, 'in a few weeks,'" the former president continued, recalling how in January the Department of Justice searched his predecessor's home in Wilmington, Delaware.

"In other words, get rid of the cash, gold, [and] documents, ASAP, before we get there. They didn’t give me any warning, they just showed up," Trump complained.

Menendez will face a primary challenge

Trump isn't the only one taking aim at Menendez, as New Jersey Democratic Rep. Andy Kim has done so as well. On Saturday, Kim announced that he will be launching a primary challenge against the embattled lawmaker.

"After calls to resign, Senator Menendez said 'I am not going anywhere,'" Kim wrote in a tweet on Saturday. "As a result, I feel compelled to run against him."
