White House physician was Biden business associate, too
Politico reported Monday that White House physician Kevin O'Connor was also involved in the business dealings of President Joe Biden and his family, calling into question his positive assessments of Biden's health and cognitive function.
The news outlet characterized O'Connor as "a family intimate and one-time business associate of the president’s brother."
He reportedly consulted with James Biden on his Americore venture, which later failed.
“You and your team clearly share our vision,” O'Connor wrote after a visit to a veteran's hospital in 2017.
"A friend"
In a deposition in 2018, the president's sister-in-law Sara Biden said that O'Connor was "a friend" and gave medical advice to various family members.
O'Connor was involved in meeting with the Parkinson's specialist who came to the White House eight times in eight months, which have raised question about Biden's health.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre pooh-poohed the reports about the Parkinson's doctor, saying that the doctor could have been meeting with any of thousands of military members that work in the building.
O'Connor concurred, saying, “Many military personnel experience neurological issues related to their service, and Dr. Cannard regularly visits the WHMU as part of this General Neurology Practice."
Reasons for deception
Politico also pointed out that the domain name for O'Connor's email address, CelticMD.com, includes the president's Secret Service code name, Celtic, as further evidence of his unusual entanglement with Biden.
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) sent a letter to O'Connor on Sunday to request his testimony about Biden's medical condition and the connections to Biden family business dealings.
Presidential health expert Jacob Appel said he didn't think O'Connor was being straight with the public when he talked about Biden's health--in part because he wasn't allowed to.
For one thing, HIPPA laws prevent doctors from sharing information with the public about a patient's health without their permission.
If Biden or his proxy--Jill?--wanted to keep damaging information from the public, all he would have to do was tell his doctor not to share it.
“Presidents’ doctors have deceived the public going back to the early 19th century,” Appel said. “There are plenty of ways of saying something that are factually accurate that don’t convey the full sense of what’s going on.”
And O'Connor's close relationship with Biden gave him more than enough motivation to go along with Biden's wishes and do whatever he was asked to do to make it look like Biden's health was and is just fine.
