Democrats have not hesitated to personally attack former President Donald Trump, frequently labeling him and his running mate, Ohio Republican Sen. J.D. Vance, as "weird."

Yet Trump has had no qualms about firing back, and he recently said that Vice President Kamala Harris is unfit for office.  

Trump compares "lying" Kamala Harris to "mentally impaired" Joe Biden

According to the Associated Press, Trump made the claim while speaking to reporters at a rally held in Erie, Pennsylvania on Sunday.

The former president accused his opponent of presiding over an "invasion" along America's southern border, insisting that the vice president "should be impeached and prosecuted for her actions."

Trump then went on to draw a comparison between Harris and President Joe Biden's well publicized struggle with cognitive decline.

"Crooked Joe Biden became mentally impaired," the former president declared before adding, "Sad. But lying Kamala Harris, honestly, I believe she was born that way."

"There’s something wrong with Kamala. And I just don’t know what it is, but there is definitely something missing. And you know what, everybody knows it," he insisted.

Some Republicans are less than eager to go after Harris' character

The Republican Party's nominee also predicted that he will face retaliation for having challenged Harris should he not be elected next month, stating, "If she wins, it's not going to be so pleasant for me, but I don't care."

Meanwhile, the Associated Press noted that Trump's attacks on Harris' competency and character have gotten an ambivalent response from some other Republicans.

When asked about the subject during a Sunday appearance on ABC's "This Week," Minnesota Republican Rep. Tom Emmer pivoted to the vice president's record.

"I think Kamala Harris is the wrong choice for America," Emmer stated. "I think Kamala Harris is actually as bad or worse as the administration that we’ve witnessed for the last four years."

"I think we should stick to the issues," he continued when pressed. "The issues are, Donald Trump fixed it once. They broke it. He's going to fix it again. Those are the issues."

"I just think the better course to take is to prosecute the case that her policies are destroying the country. They're crazy liberal," he stated.
