House GOP expose rampant fraud and abuse of Biden-Harris 'parole' program for certain illegal migrants
Early in his administration, President Joe Biden named Vice President Kamala Harris his "Border Czar," and the border crisis inarguably grew even worse under her ostensible stewardship.
Now, the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee has confirmed just how terribly mismanaged the Biden-Harris border and immigration policies are by exposing the rampant fraud and criminality in just one "parole" program, Breitbart reported.
That program, which granted "parole" and temporary legal status to more than half a million migrants from Cuba, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, has been grossly abused and exploited by criminals and fraudsters, to the detriment of American taxpayers and the citizenry more broadly.
The Biden-Harris CHNV parole program
In a Wednesday press release, the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee unveiled an interim staff report documenting the "fraud-ridden, unmitigated disaster" that is the so-called CHNV Parole Program after just two years.
The program is designed to grant "parole" status to migrants from the four named nations if they have an eligible "supporter" who is a U.S. citizen or legal resident and can financially back them once they've been granted entry into the country, after having bypassed not just migrants going through the normal legal process but also those attempting to illegally cross the southern border.
Yet, the committee's investigation of the program found tens of thousands of instances of fraud involving supporters and migrants who should have been caught and denied by authorities but instead had their applications approved.
"The Biden-Harris Administration's willingness to cast aside the best interests of Americans has enabled fraud, undermined national security, and endangered public safety, all in favor of ensuring that hundreds of thousands of otherwise illegal aliens can come to the U.S.," the committee's release said.
"Communities across the country have been negatively affected by the influx of aliens under this Administration, including the more than half a million CHNV parolees," the release added. "These damaging effects on American communities are all the more disturbing in light of the massive fraud and other concerns discovered in the CHNV program."
So-called migrant "parole" program rife with fraud and abuse
According to the 14-page report, "Since January 2021, President Joe Biden and border czar Vice President Kamala Harris have welcomed 7.7 million illegal aliens into the United States, including at least 1.9 million known illegal alien 'gotaways,'" and has featured 44 consecutive months of at least 100,000 border encounters between illegal migrants and immigration authorities.
"To mask the border crisis and artificially decrease historically high border encounters, President Biden and Vice President Harris implemented programs and policies that allowed aliens to bypass the southwest border so they would not be included as encounters in Border Patrol data," the report continued. "In particular, the Administration created, without Congressional authorization, what it called 'lawful pathways' for illegal aliens to enter the U.S. One such avenue is the Biden-Harris Administration’s categorical parole program for nationals of Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela (CHNV)."
At least 531,000 migrants from those four countries have taken advantage of that program, even though federal law only allows for "parole" to be granted on an individual "case-by-case basis," and now, as if that flouting of federal limitations weren't bad enough, it has been revealed that the "unlawful CHNV program is plagued by so much fraud that DHS itself was forced to pause the program" temporarily in July.
Some examples include the submission of fraudulent documents by supporters, claimed income for supporters that is admittedly derived from criminal activity or public welfare benefits, and applications submitted by supporters who are not citizens or legal residents and are themselves subject to removal, among other things.
Up to Republicans to end this criminal nonsense
There is also evidence outlined in the report that thousands of recipients of the CHNV parole aren't even from those four nations, as well as that sex traffickers have exploited the program to "legally" import trafficked victims into the country.
This program, which was never lawfully authorized by Congress, has indeed been an "unmitigated disaster" from the beginning, and it will be up to the incoming Trump administration to end it once and for all, while Republican lawmakers continue to expose just how grossly abused it has been.
