Christmas parties are often the annual work event where that one employee has a few too many and loses control, only to suffer major regrets and embarrassment by morning.

According to the New York Post, that was exactly what had happened within the ranks of the Royal Family, as one of the maids at Buckingham Palace apparently got a little too wild at a Christmas party hosted at a London bar.

Aside from the humiliation and social fallout, the maid will now have to worry about potential legal troubles as the situation is now under investigation.

The situation caused an uproar within the groups that follow the Royal Family, and word spread quick across social media.

What happened?

Buckingham Palace finally broke its silence on the rowdy maid, announcing that it will investigate exactly what happened at the London Bar during a staff Christmas party.

“We are aware of an incident outside the workplace involving a number of Household staff who had previously attended an early evening reception at the Palace," a spokesperson for the palace said.

The palace spokesperson added, "We are aware of an incident outside the workplace involving a number of Household staff who had previously attended an early evening reception at the Palace."

Not only did the maid reportedly throw punches while inside the bar, she also reportedly smashed a number of glasses both inside and outside of the bar.

Before she was finally arrested, she reportedly attempted to brawl with the security guards at the bar, making her situation even worse.

Social media reacts

Plenty of social media users reacted to the news of the maid's arrest.

"Good heavens, it appears it can happen at any Christmas party settling," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Workplace Christmas parties have been the downfall of so many people."

It appears as if the maid has escaped major consequences, so far, as she was released from jail the next day after her arrest and slapped with a fine. It's unclear exactly what the palace might pursue.
