Controversial GOP donor dies in attempted murder-suicide
According to The Miami Herald, 72-year-old longtime Republican activist Steve Alembik died earlier this month in an attempted murder-suicide.
The incident occurred on October 9 and consisted of Alembik shooting a woman who is believed to have been his wife in the parking lot of a Palm Beach County restaurant.
A controversial history
The victim was able to run into the restaurant and was subsequently rushed to hospital while Alembik turned the gun on himself.
In addition to wearing American flag-themed outfits and donating over $200,000 to Republican candidates, Alembik was also known for a racist tweet he once made about former President Barack Obama.

Laura Loomer says Alembik suffered from mental health problems
The paper noted that Alembik expressed regret for the tweet, and controversy surrounding it prompted Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott to ive a $1,100 contribution form Alembik to charity.
It also stated that the wealthy entrepreneur had exhibited unstable behavior in the pass, such as when he allegedly threatened an Herald reporter.
What's more, Alembik was arrested by police in 2018 on a domestic violence charge that was ultimately dismissed via a pre-trial diversion program.
Following Alembik's death, fellow right-wing activist Laura Loomer put up a post on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter in which she attributed his crime to mental health issues.
Alembik supported James O'Keefe's work
"Sadly, those of us who knew Steve understood that he struggled with his mental health at times, which he ultimately succumbed to when he died this week, but he always put on a smile for those around him and never complained," Loomer wrote.
Steve Alembik was a wonderful, and kind hearted man, and I was very sad and shocked to learn of his death today. I wrote about him in my book, as he was the person who gave me the first initial push to run for US Congress in 2020. Independent conservative journalist James O'Keefe spoke up as well, recalling the support that Alembik had extended to his work.
Tragic news: I’ve learned Steve Alembik has died.
