Sarah Fergusion, Duchess of York is in good health after undergoing a surgery for breast cancer.

The 63-year-old British royal, who is ex-wife of Prince Andrew and mother to Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, announced the news on her podcast Monday, urging others to go get screened.

"I want every single person that is listening to this podcast to go and get checked," she said.

Royal's diagnosis

Fergusion, or "Fergie," underwent a single mastectomy at King Edward VII hospital in London, her spokesperson said.

"She was advised she needed to undergo surgery which has taken place successfully," the statement said.

The cancer was detected during a routine screening and is at an early stage, her team said. She was not experiencing symptoms before the cancer was detected.

Ferguson "wants to express her immense gratitude to all the medical staff who have supported her in recent days," the statement added, saying her prognosis is "good."

"She is now recuperating with her family. The Duchess wants to express her immense gratitude to all the medical staff who have supported her in recent days."

"Gift"

Ferguson broke the news during an episode of Tea Talk, her podcast. She said had to be forced to do the check-up because it was a "hot day."

The duchess said she's taking the diagnosis as an opportunity.

"I'm taking this a real gift to change my life," she said.

"I'm going to get fit, I'm going to understand it. I'm going to be super fit, super strong, really understand what caused this and look at it straight on."

Caring for Queen's pups

"Fergie" has also spoken out on her podcast about dealing with publicity and her friendship with Princess Diana, saying both could relate to feeling isolated.

"I know that feeling too, when people don't wish to talk to you because 'Bad Fergie' sells papers. They've already judged you and you're left alone," she said.

In 2021, Fergusion released a successful romance novel. She divorced Andrew in 1996 but they continue to live together in Windsor, where they are caring for the late Queen's beloved corgis.

"They're great, they're really happy, and their tails have gone up now, so I think they are over their grief," she said recently.
