Georgia Democrat Switches Parties To Republican

A Georgia Democrat has had enough of being "crucified" by her own party for supporting school choice, and she's taking the nuclear option.

State Representative Mesha Mainor announced on Tuesday that she is switching her party registration from Democrat to Republican.

She posted on Twitter that "today I made the decision to leave the Democrat Party. I represent a blue district in the city of Atlanta so this wasn’t a political decision for me. It was a a MORAL one. I will NEVER apologize for being a black woman with a mind of my own."

Mainor explained her choice to Fox News by saying that "when I decided to stand up on behalf of disadvantaged children in support of school choice, my Democrat colleagues didn’t stand by me."

"They abandoned me."

Just like they've abandoned America.

"For far too long, the Democrat Party has gotten away with using and abusing the black community," Mainor claimed.

"For decades, the Democrat Party has received the support of more than 90 percent of the black community. And what do we have to show for it? I represent a solidly blue district in the city of Atlanta. This isn’t a political decision for me. It’s a moral one."

People have been suspecting that she might make this sort of move for a few months now.

Back in May, Mainor said that she found herself "in the crosshairs of my Democratic caucus in the Georgia House of Representatives."

"I represent a solidly blue, highly diverse district. And I had never hesitated and will never hesitate to vote for the best interest of the communities I represent over party politics."

"I voted yes for parents and yes for children, not failing schools," she said.

Democrats didn't like it.

But Americans did.
