The balance of power in the Senate is at stake in the 2024 election and as a result, both parties are calling in heavy political hitters to seal the deal in some of the closely watched races. 

According to Fox News, failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is inserting herself into one particularly important Senate election in Arizona.

The race, according to Fox and political observers, could be the seat that determines whether or not Republicans or Democrats control the upper chamber next year.

The election involves Arizona Rep. Ruben Gallego (D) and former gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake.

Endorsement given

Clinton, in a recent social media post, offered her full endorsement of Gallego as he enters what could be a very close race with Lake, who is firmly in former President Donald Trump's camp.

"Arizonans deserve a fighter like @RubenGallego in the Senate—someone who will deliver for hardworking families, defend abortion rights, and work towards building a better future for us all," Clinton wrote.

For his part, Gallego welcomed Clinton's endorsement, announcing he was "proud" to receive it while boasting about Clinton's ideologies.

"She’s long been a leading advocate for social justice, an unyielding fighter for women’s rights, and a dedicated public servant who has spent decades working to better our nation. Now more than ever, we need to stand together in the face of the extremism that’s threatening Arizona and work to protect abortion rights, defend our democracy, and build a better future for families in every corner of our state," Gallego's statement read.

In addition to Clinton's endorsement on Thursday, Gallego was also endorsed by the progressive veterans group Common Defense.

Lake weighs in

Lake, who's seen as a top contender in the race, added her thoughts about Clinton's endorsement of Gallego, which she used to her political advantage.

"I’m not surprised. They have a lot in common. Ruben & Hillary have spent their careers defrauding hard-working Americans & enriching themselves at YOUR expense. I’m running to put you & your family first," Lake wrote on X.

Lake has received a number of endorsements in her quest to win the chance to represent Arizona voters in the Senate.

Only time will tell if Clinton's endorsement holds any real weight in what will undoubtedly be a tight race.
