President Joe Biden caused political shockwaves this past weekend by announcing via social media that he will not seek another term in office.

While the president provided no specific reason as to why he thought necessary to end his campaign, one of Biden's relatives recently implied that he is on his deathbed.

Frank Biden hopes "to enjoy whatever time we have left"

According to Breitbart, that was the impression given by the president's youngest brother Frank Biden when speaking with CBS News.

"Selfishly, I will have him back to enjoy whatever time we have left. He is a genuine hero," Frank Biden was quoted as telling the network.

When the younger Biden was asked whether health concerns played a role in his decision to step aside, he replied by saying, "In my humble opinion, absolutely."

While Frank Biden holds no official role in his brother's administration, he has long faced allegations of using President Biden's name to engage in influence peddling.

Interestingly, Las Vegas' 3 News reported last week that a hospital in the city went on standby over concerns that it may need to treat President Biden for COVID while he was visiting Nevada.

White House dismisses president's brother as an alcoholic

For its part, the White House was quick to dispute Frank Biden's claim, telling CBS News, "Frank Biden suffers from alcoholism and hasn't spoken to his brother, the President, in weeks. What he said about President Biden’s health is completely untrue."

Breitbart noted that President Biden has maintained a low profile since Sunday's campaign announcement, with no official appearances taking place on Monday or Tuesday.

However, a post put up Tuesday afternoon on the president's official X account promised that he would address the nation regarding his decision to drop out of the presidential race.

President says selecting Kamala Harris was "the best decision" he's made

One thing that Biden has been clear about is that he is endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris to serve as the Democratic Party's nominee.

"My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it's been the best decision I've made," he declared on X.

"Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year," Biden went on to add.
