Princess Kate gave the world a shock Friday with the news that she is being treated for cancer.

The devastating announcement capped off weeks of frenzied speculation about her status, with some suggesting her first public outing since an abdominal surgery was fake.

The dad who filmed Kate shopping with her husband William blasted the "delusional" theories surrounding the Princess in an interview with The Sun.

"Relaxed and happy"

Engineer Nelson Silva said he shot the video for his family, but later decided to share it with the world hoping it would put the rumors about Kate to rest.

He was shopping for steak at Windsor Farm Shop when he happened to spot Kate and William in the meat section. People in the store were star-struck but the royal couple looked "relaxed and happy."

"William was obviously protective of Kate and I quickly stopped recording because I didn’t want to make them uncomfortable," Silva said.

Silva expressed frustration with the persistence of rumors that Kate had been replaced by a body double.

“This is a video clearly showing her and William. I saw them with my own eyes. It was a completely relaxed situation," he said.

“What more do you need to lay off her? I thought after this was released they’d go quiet. But these people are so invested in the drama now."

Kate dispels speculation

The rumors about Kate's whereabouts began after her surgery in January, the details of which remain unclear.

The conspiracy snowballed when Kate shared a March 10 photo with her kids that she later admitted was edited.

In a heartbreaking video shared Friday, Kate cleared up the rumors about her absence, explaining that she has cancer. She did not specify what type, but she said it was discovered during her abdominal surgery and that she has begun receiving chemotherapy.

"We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery," Kate said.

Despite this shocking news, Kate said she is doing "well" and "getting stronger every day" as she credited her husband for his love and support.
