The shooting occurred as agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) were attempting to execute a search warrant on Malinowski's house.

Someone inside the home is alleged to have opened fire on the agent, who then proceeded to shoot back and struck Malinowski.

Malinowski serves as executive director of the Bill and Hillary Clinton Airport, and while law enforcement did not provide any information regarding his condition.

However, the Daily Mail cited a source said to be close to the investigation who stated Malinowski is currently on life support. The source also said that an ATF agent sustained a non-life-threatening wound.

Meanwhile, the New York Post reported on Thursday that Malinowski had succumbed to his injuries, something brother blamed on the ATF, saying, "They went for a kill shot."

Deceased known as gun enthusiast who liked to buy and trade firearms

Shea De Bruyn is one of Malinowski's neighbors, and she described being woken up by gunfire in an interview with NBC affiliate KARK.

"My heart was racing, and the dogs were barking. I'm just really curious as to what was going on just a few houses down," Bruyn recalled.

The Daily Mail also pointed to other neighbors who said that Malinowski was known as a gun enthusiast who frequently buys and trades firearms.

The paper cited a statement from Clinton National Airport Commission Chairman Bill Walker which read, "Today's incident saddens us, and we pray for everyone involved."

Man fatally shot near Bill and Hillary Clinton Airport early last month

This is far from being the first time that the Bill and Hillary Clinton Airport has been associated with violence, as KARK reported that a man was found dead in a vehicle close to the facility early last month.

The deceased individual had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was later identified as being 23-year-old Pine Bluff resident Qwun'Don Marks.

Authorities later arrested 26-year-old Keith Kinchen of North Little Rock in connection with Marks' death and charged him with capital murder.
