The UK's Princess of Wales Kate Middleton made headlines earlier this year by announcing that she had been diagnosed with cancer.

However, fans of the 42-year-old royal were pleased this week to learn that her battle against the disease has apparently been won.

Princess relieved "to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment"

As People magazine reported, Middleton released a video via social media on Monday in which she went into detail about her condition.

"As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment," the princess could be heard saying as footage showed her walking alongside her family.

"The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we've had to find a way to navigate the storm waters and road unknown," she continued.

Middleton is "looking forward to being back at work"

"The cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you," the princess went on to stress.

"This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life which so many of us often take for granted," Middleton pointed out.

As she drew to a close, the princess explained that her focus is now on "doing what I can to remain cancer-free" as her "path to healing and full recovery" plays out.

Still, Middleton emphasized that she is nevertheless "looking forward to being back at work and taking a few more public engagements when I can."

"William and I are so grateful for the support we've received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us at this time," she said before remarking that "everyone's kindness, empathy, and compassion has been truly humbling."

Well-wisher enjoyed video

Meanwhile, People magazine reported that Prince William briefly spoke about his wife's condition while visiting a school in Wales on Tuesday.

One woman who handed him a card told the publication, "I said it was great to see Kate was better and recovering. I told him I enjoyed the video and asked him to give her the card and all my love."

"He said, 'She is better. Thank you very much,' " Stoneman declared before adding, "It's absolutely fabulous that he took the time to come."
