An article published this week by The List detailed how Malia And Sasha Obama often enjoyed "a close-knit relationship with members of their father's administration.

However, the publication also charged that the pair sometimes had awkward moments with White White House staff.

Administration official provided religious instruction

The List contributor Heather Baver wrote that "the Obamas took advantage of employee expertise to bolster Malia and Sasha's education."

One of those employees was Joshua DuBois, a former Senate campaign aide who headed up President Barack Obama's Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

DuBois reportedly provided Malia And Sasha with weekly religious instruction during their eight years in the White House.

They are also said to have had a close connection with Kristen Jarvis, who served as special assistant to President Obama's chief of staff while he was in the Senate and then went on to become his wife's chief of staff.

Malia And Sasha were bridesmaids for mother's chief of staff

"We're just always together," Jarvis told the Washington Post in 2015 when asked about then-First Lady Michelle Obama.

"Whether it's talking about work, talking about the girls, my personal life, to brief her for an event, we're always talking," Jarvis explained.

What's more, The List noted that Jarvis asked Malia And Sasha to be her bridesmaids a year later when she married former House Committee on Homeland Security Committee staff member Shaun West.

"Sasha and I have had a big sister/little sister relationship since the very beginning," the Daily Mail quoted Jarvis as saying on her wedding website. "We've been thru [sic] so many 'firsts' together over the years that I couldn't imagine this 'first' for me without her."

Girls uncomfortable with Secret Service protection

Yet in her article, Baver wrote that "some employees found it a disquieting combination when the Obamas requested a Nintendo Wii to entertain Malia and Sasha Obama in a room designated as a museum of presidential china."

Others were reportedly "dismayed to discover Sasha had neglected to empty her closet when the Obamas were moving out."

Meanwhile, President Obama told ABC News in 2017 that his daughters sometimes struggled with the need for Secret Service protection.

"If you're a teenager, having a couple of people with microphones and guns always following you around, that could grate on them," he acknowledged before adding, "But they've handled it with grace, and I give Michelle most of the credit for how well they've done."
