Robert F. Kennedy's longshot quest to win the Democratic Party's nomination appears to be gaining momentum, with a poll conducted for Newsweek finding that he is supported by nearly a third of those who voted for Joe Biden.

That elevated status has brought sharp attacks, leading Kennedy to claim that he has been targeted by the media "even more than President Trump was slammed."

Kennedy calls attacks on him "unprecedented"

According to Politico, Kennedy made the claim during an appearance this past weekend on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures."

"I’ve been really, you know, slammed in a way that I think is unprecedented," Politico quoted Kennedy as telling host Maria Bartiromo.

"I mean, listen, if I believed the stuff that’s written about me in the papers and reported about me on the mainstream news sites, I would definitely not vote for me," he continued, adding, "I would think I was a very despicable person."

Last week, Kennedy put out a series of tweets disputing the claim that he believes COVID-19 was designed so as to avoid killing Jewish people.

Tense moments during Kennedy's congressional testimony

"I accurately pointed out — during an off-the-record conversation — that the U.S. and other governments are developing ethnically targeted bioweapons and that a 2021 study of the COVID-19 virus shows that COVID-19 appears to disproportionately affect certain races since the furin cleave docking site is most compatible with Blacks and Caucasians and least compatible with ethnic Chinese, Finns, and Ashkenazi Jews," Kennedy wrote.

"In that sense, it serves as a kind of proof of concept for ethnically targeted bioweapons," he continued before adding, "I do not believe and never implied that the ethnic effect was deliberately engineered."

Kennedy also hit back during an appearance on Capitol Hill this past Friday after Democrats leveled what he said were false allegations.

Jim Jordan accuses Democrat of trying to censor Kennedy

Among the Democratic lawmakers to target Kennedy was Stacey Plaskett, who serves as a non-voting delegate to the House of Representatives from the U.S. Virgin Islands.

At one point during the proceedings, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan accused Plaskett of trying to "censor" Kennedy.
