It now appears very likely that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is going to select Nicole Shanahan to be his running mate.

This is according to a new report from Mediaite, titled, Exclusive: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Expected to Tap Nicole Shanahan as Running Mate.

Kennedy is running for the U.S. presidency, this year, as an independent candidate. This comes after he dropped out of the Democratic Party's presidential primary.

There was, briefly, some talk about the possibility that Kennedy might become former President Donald Trump's running mate - Trump being the Republican Party's presidential nominee. But, it appears that this will not happen.

The latest

There have been multiple reports, as of late, about whom Kennedy is going to select as his running mate. A name that came to the forefront is National Football League (NFL) quarterback Aaron Rogers. But, according to Mediaite, Rogers is now out of the running.

"Aaron Rodgers, the outspoken NFL quarterback who Kennedy had been considering as his VP pick, is out of the running, a source close to the campaign said. The prospect of his selection prompted concerns among donors to the campaign," the outlet reports.

Instead, Mediaite, citing its anonymous sources, said that Kennedy is likely to choose Shanahan.

The outlet reports, "Shanahan, who was behind Kennedy’s Super Bowl commercial, is now expected to be named the running mate to the long-shot bid."

Mediaite goes on to quote "a source close with [Kennedy's] campaign" as saying:

[Kennedy and Shanahan] align on numerous issues. The campaign is also looking for a candidate who can help finance the ballot access initiative. She might be infusing millions of dollars into the campaign to help fund the ballot initiative, which makes her attractive financially; however, she lacks the qualifications to actually do the job.

Who is Nicole Shanahan?

For those unfamiliar with Shanahan, she is an attorney, entrepreneur, Democratic donor, and the former wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin.

Shanahan, as mentioned, was involved in Kennedy's 2024 Super Bowl ad.

The Washington Examiner reports:

The ex-wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Shanahan was partially responsible for the Kennedy 2024 Super Bowl ad last month. She told the New York Times she donated $4 million to American Values 2024, the super PAC supporting Kennedy’s candidacy, to help cover the $7 million cost and helped coordinate the production of the ad.

Kennedy, at the time of this writing, has not confirmed Mediaite's reporting.

As an independent presidential candidate, Kennedy, thus far, has only qualified to appear on general election ballots in about five states.
